The Yorkshire Terrier was developed in the nineteenth century, by crossing the
Skye Terrier, Dandie Dinmont, Maltese and
other small long-haired terriers. The pups do not have the long silky coat
but it develops around the third year.
The Yorkshire Terrier is responsible for the development of the Australian Terrier
and the Silky Terrier.
